Phase 0: One week prior to term start, memorize the basic vocabulary for IGCSE math and physics; focus on conceptual vocabulary for chemistry subject (excluding material-related terms).
Phase 1: Fresh student adaptation period: August 21 - August 31.
Primary Objective: To assist G and D in smoothly adapting to UWC's learning and living environment.
Specific tasks:
1. Guidance on the first day of school, organize a week's worth of school uniform, meals, and physical education classes according to the school schedule. Prepare daily stationery and supplementary materials.
2. Cultivate study habits, create folders, organize daily class notes and post-class review materials, and set daily extracurricular study tasks and content.
3. Arrange schedule for subject-specific tutors, manage time coordination.
4. Train the two children to create study schedules and supervise their completion.
5. Explain and answer questions from school, or assist in finding relevant materials.
6. Create reading record cards to cultivate a habit of documenting books read.
Schedule: In Phase 1, five days a week to assist both children's studies at home, each session lasting three hours—1.5h each for G and D. Tentatively from 5 PM to 8 PM, subject to tutor’s schedule and availability.
Phase 2: Regular Study Period: September 1 - November 30.
Primary Objective: Transition both children into a regular study phase, focusing on knowledge acquisition and academic improvement.
Specific tasks:
1. Complete the integration and adaptation from Phase 1, further refine any remaining areas.
2. Coordinate with tutors, adjust tutoring content and pace, tailor preparation for UWC courses.
3. Initiate university application planning, lay groundwork for the next four years of study.
4. Expand studies across various UWC subjects.
Schedule: During this phase, ensure at least two sessions per week to assist with studies at home, each lasting three hours—1.5h each for G and D. Tentatively from 5 PM to 8 PM, subject to tutor’s schedule and availability. Schedule may be changed during the short term break from October 14~29.
Phase 3: Exam Period: December 1 - December 22.
Primary Objective: Successfully complete the first comprehensive assessment after enrollment.
Specific tasks:
1. Organize subject material, strengthen mastery of key points, and review thoroughly.
2. work with tutors to establish firm foundation in each subject and cultivate a habit of achieving high test scores.
3. Adjust sleep schedule to align with exam arrangements and adapt review progress.
Schedule: During this phase, ensure at least three sessions per week to assist with studies at home, each lasting three hours—1.5h each for G and D. Tentatively set from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Usage of Translation tools/software:
1. During class, convert speech to text and translate into Chinese. Discuss with an experienced teacher to determine the appropriate translation ratio. Record the entire process and maintain a balance in using Chinese text during class to facilitate comprehension and improve English listening skills.
2. For textbooks, course materials, and assignments, determine a rule for using translation software based on subject-specific needs—options include full-text translation, sentence translation, or looking up unfamiliar words.
